$60 billion in trade moves through the Port of Prince Rupert annually, representing $1.4 billion in economic activity generated through northern British Columbia .

There is over $2.5 billion in recently completed and ongoing expansion projects that will provide new market access opportunities for export-based industries and over $200 million invested in rail infrastructure in Northern BC to expand capacity and capability.

South Kaien Logistics Park

Introducing an Import Logistics Project to the Prince Rupert Gateway will support the further growth of Fairview Container Terminal and advances our objectives of becoming a full-service gateway.

The logistics park is a critical component of PRPA’s broader plan to develop an integrated intermodal ecosystem to support 4M+ TEUs of capacity by 2030. The fee simple lands are owned by South Kaien Land Holdings Ltd., a subsidiary of Metlakatla Development Corporation, and co- developed with the Prince Rupert Port Authority. The lands are cleared and some preliminary earthworks have begun.

Ridley Island Export Logistics Project

The Prince Rupert Port Authority is the project proponent and would build the proposed land, rail, road, and utility infrastructure required to support future transloading operations located on the platform.

CANXPORT, formerly known as the Ridley Island Export Logistics Project, is a port infrastructure project that will enable and support the development of innovative, large scale, export transloading facilities designed to increase efficiencies in export supply chains maximize value to Canadian exporters, and support the growth of the intermodal business in the Port of Prince Rupert.

Fairview Container Terminal Expansion

DP World Prince Rupert Inc. has been operating the Fairview Container Terminal since 2015. Since that time, throughput has grown from 776,412 TEUs in 2015 to 1,141,390 TEUs in 2020.

Today, Fairview Container Terminal’s sustainable practical capacity is 1.6M TEUs; however, demand will soon outstrip that level of capacity and further volume growth is projected into the foreseeable future. o maximize the opportunity for gateway growth, work has been completed on DP World Prince Rupert’s Phase 2B Stage 1A (P2BS1A) project, with plans to deliver Phase 2B Stage 1B (P2BS1B) underway.
